Something new is coming to Pip’s burrow. A tiny baby.
Pip: “Will the baby have my bed?”
Bramble said softly, “No. Your bed is yours. The baby has a little cradle.”
Pip and Bramble walked along the mossy path.
Hazel: “Hello Pip! Babies are small and loud and sleepy.”
Pip: “Loud and sleepy?”
Old Oakley the owl waited on a low branch.
Old Oakley: “A new baby needs a lot of holding. Your family loves you just the same.”
Pip: “The same as before?”
Old Oakley: “Exactly the same, little one. You can ask for a cuddle whenever you like.”
The baby was very small, all wrapped up in a blanket.
Pip: “Hello, little one.”
The baby made a tiny squeak, and Pip laughed.
That night the burrow was quiet and warm.
Pip: “I’m the big one now.”
Pip had a cuddle, and went to sleep with a sleepy smile.
